Successful Project Start in Ethiopia

Successful Project Start in Ethiopia

A new bfz partnership project has successfully been launched in Ethiopia.

Project partner is EHPEA – Ethiopian Horticulture Producer Exporters Association. This sector is one of the most dynamic sectors in the country and shows a high potential for its future development. At the same time, it provides a large number of employment and produces food products, thus being of great importance for the local population.

The three year project aims at strengthening the institutional development of the association. It is implemented in the framework of the partnership program of the BMZ (German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development) and supported by sequa gGmbH.

Following a planning workshop in November 2017 in Addis Ababa,  the project partners also met at the Fruitlogistica trade fair in Berlin in February 2018 at the Ethiopian pavilion.

This participation at the worlds leading fruit and vegetable fair was made possible by another project financed by the BMZ and implemented by sequa: IPD – Import Promotion Desk supports the import of a range of products from eight countries worldwide – amongst them Ethiopia – in Germany.

A close cooperation between both projects promises valuable synergies and effects for the horticultural sector in Ethiopia and contributes also to the reduction of the causes of flight.
