Practice-oriented qualification for the future

In collaboration with Selam Technical and Vocational College (STVC), the project aims to prepare young adults for the labour market or self-employment by offering practical qualifications, apprenticeships, and start-up courses.

Additionally, Selam trainers receive further professional and pedagogical training to ensure long-term training quality. Networking events promote cooperation between educational institutions, companies, and other relevant stakeholders to create practical training programmes.

Creating opportunities for disadvantaged young people

This initiative provides disadvantaged young adults in Addis Ababa with training in electrical engineering, textiles/fashion, agriculture, mechanics and carpentry. Four hundred and fifty young people complete a short qualification programme, 35 per cent complete an apprenticeship, and 20 teachers receive further training.

A further 150 people take part in start-up courses. Cooperation with the private sector is strengthened and 125 young people find employment. Training courses for trainers and the development of networks will improve training structures in the long term.
