Strengthening the chambers in Iraq

Three people sit at a table and discuss during a detailed planning workshop. Documents, pens, and water bottles are on the table. Portraits hang on the wall in the background. A productive and collaborative work environment.

The project is being implemented in collaboration with chambers of commerce in Baghdad, Basra, Erbil and Sulaymaniyah. The project aims to strengthen the organisational and professional capabilities of the chambers, enabling them to effectively support SMEs.

Planned activities include developing administrative and organisational services, holding regular consultations with SMEs to assess their needs, and designing targeted support initiatives. The on-site implementation is overseen by an international long-term expert, while short-term experts focus on specific areas of expertise.

Promotion of competitiveness

The project enables partner chambers to effectively support SMEs. Key activities include over 20 structured advisory sessions, as well as the introduction of new services that will be utilised by over 65 SMEs per chamber. These activities will contribute to improvements in social and environmental standards.

A strategy paper will be developed to outline the collaboration between the chambers and SMEs, and specialised SME support teams will be established. These efforts will strengthen the competitiveness of SMEs and contribute to economic stabilisation across different regions of Iraq.
