The chambers as key players in the vocational education system

Non-formal vocational education, including initial training and professional development, is coordinated by the National Institute for Vocational Training (INFOP) in Honduras. As INFOP does not have a nationwide presence, it enters into partnership agreements with chambers of commerce. With INFOP funding, these chambers deliver vocational education programmes through decentralised cooperation centres. These partnerships enable the chambers to generate revenue and ensure their long-term sustainability. This makes the chambers more appealing to businesses, enabling them to attract new members.

Ten pilot projects as new services

As part of the project, at least ten new training and educational programmes will be developed and offered as pilot schemes. German experts from bbw will support the project by training regional chamber staff in career guidance measures and other services, among other things.

Best practice experiences will be documented and shared within the chamber network. In the long term, these new services will contribute to the economic sustainability of the chambers.
