Education as the key to the future – Success story of UREPP

The Uganda Refugee Employment Promotion Project II (UREPP II) aims to sustainably improve the career opportunities of young refugees and socially disadvantaged Ugandans.

By 2027, at least 1,400 participants are expected to benefit from gender- and climate-sensitive training, with an 80 percent success rate in securing employment or starting a business. The combination of profiling, qualification, and job placement ensures sustainable income prospects for the target groups and sets new standards in vocational education in Uganda.

Women’s empowerment and sustainable change

A key focus of UREPP II is women's empowerment: 60% of participants are expected to be female and receive training in areas such as sustainable agriculture, craftsmanship or entrepreneurship.

Additionally, partner schools are developing gender- and climate-sensitive vocational education models to be integrated into the national non-formal vocational education system. Through training of multipliers and collaborations with educational institutions, sustainability in vocational education is being anchored long-term – both socially and ecologically.
