The project is being implemented in Baalbek, in the Bekaa Valley in Lebanon. Its aim is to stabilise the economic situation of Syrian refugees and disadvantaged young people by reducing youth unemployment. The project aims to improve the living conditions of young people and their families by providing them with vocational training and job placement opportunities.

bbw gGmbH (Bildungswerk der Bayerischen Wirtschaft) is cooperating with LOST (The Lebanese Organisation for Studies and Training) on this initiative.

Goals achieved – despite unstable situation in Lebanon

Four people in white helmets install solar modules on a roof under a cloudy sky. The focus is on sustainable energy generation.

The targets set have already been exceeded. By the end of the project, 1,500 pupils (750 of them female, 70 percent young people) were to be tested for their suitability in five professions (‘profiling’). 500 of them (250 of whom were female) were to receive targeted training, while 200 participants (100 of whom were female) were to be successfully placed in jobs. In addition, 10 teachers were to receive further training.

Particular focus was placed on sustainable energy, which should significantly boost expertise in the trades – a promising approach for Bavaria.
