Research and model experiments on occupational training

Vocational training and in-company training significantly contribute to Germany’s economic performance. They have long become an important factor for economic and success because they meet the highest demands in respect of flexibility and quality. These are essential to meet the ever changing requirements of the work process.

The Research Institute for Vocational Education (f-bb), as a company of the bbw-Group, supports modernisation of the vocational education and continuing training system through contributions to application-oriented research. The f-bb has developed practical concepts for innovative employer-provided training in close cooperation with contracting bodies from the business and politics sector.

The range of services of the f-bb includes:

  • Implementation of design and transfer projects for operational training
  • Creation of case studies, empirical surveys and evaluations
  • Scientific monitoring of support programmes and model projects

To do this, the f-bb works in nine specific fields:

  • Educational planning
  • Professional integration
  • In-company training
  • Education consulting
  • Education and demographics
  • Europeanisation of vocational profiles
  • Learning with media Scientific further training
  • Migration

An integral part of the work is the direct transfer of current research findings into the world of work. This is done mainly through conferences, thematic web portals, specialist publications, individual book series and courses. Current results from the company, vocational education research and education policy were disseminated in this way. The Research Institute for Vocational Education (f-bb) is a not-for-profit limited company. It is a member of the Working Association Vocational Education Research Network (AG BFN) and is certified according to DIN ISO 9001:2015.
