Development of short term training offers in the field of crafts

Through targeted training, bbw creates new employment opportunities for young unemployed people in professions of the main and secondary construction industry.

Together with six vocational schools and local companies, bbw implements modular short term training offers in the main and secondary construction area. The aim is to offer opportunities to young adults who do not have a school leaving certificate and therefore cannot find a place in the regular training system. In this way, their chances of entering the local labour market are increased. At the same time, the shortage of skilled workers in the crafts sector is counteracted.

Promotion of employment in rural areas

Youth unemployment is particularly high in decentralised regions of Tunisia. As a consequence, many young people migrate and look for employment in urban areas or in Europe. People without school-leaving qualifications and training are particularly affected by this. This makes it all the more important to create alternatives for them in order to promote their local employment opportunities.

New perspectives through qualification, job placement and start-up consulting

The bbw is creating new raining curricula in the crafts sector with a special focus of the construction industry. These are based on the design principles of the German partial qualifications. They are modular in structure and each comprise a qualification period of six months. Characteristic of this is the high proportion of practical training and cooperation with local companies. The contents of the curricula are designed to meet the needs and requirements of the companies. We also support our partners in the implementation of the training measures. Responsible teaching staff is prepared by train-the-trainer measures and necessary material is optimised in training workshops. At the same time, we set up structures for vocational orientation, job placement and start-up consulting at the schools, so that graduates can either be employed or start their own business. The project is accompanied by a target-oriented marketing campaign that highlights new career prospects in the construction industry.

The project is financed by the BMZ and has a project duration from 01.02.2020 until 31.07.2022. It is part of the overall project "Inter-company training with the private sector in Tunisia", which is being implemented by GIZ.
