Vocational guidance and competence measurement

The bbw Group supports disadvantaged groups in Turkey through measures aimed at vocational orientation and integration.

As part of the TAMEB project (German-Turkish partnership for vocational qualification), the Bildungswerk der Bayerischen Wirtschaft (bbw) determines the competencies, skills and preferences of Syrian refugees as well as disadvantaged Turks. The result of the competence determination method KoJACK-TAMEB contributes to supporting the participants individually in their vocational orientation and integration in the jobs market as well as possible.

Large, unintegrated marginal groups

As a result of the civil war in Syria, Turkey has over two million registered refugees. The regions accommodating them are confronted with the challenge of integrating a large number of refugees in society, in addition to disadvantaged Turkish groups.

The TAMEB project aims to teach both Syrian and Turkish young adults skills and competencies that will allow them to find regular employment.

Determining competencies via the KoJACK method

In this context, the bbw conducts competence survey for better identification and career orientation of the target group. The competence surveys are carried out following the KoJACK-TAMEB method developed by the bbw Group. This involves an online-assisted self-assessment method that has been translated for the project and adapted to the local situations and target groups.

Job and integration coaches on the ground then coach the participants based on the KoJACK results and help them to integrate in the local jobs market and society. The supportive coaches have been and will be trained in a further TAMEB subproject by the bbw.

The TAMEB project is funded by sequa with a fund from the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The sub-project KoJACK ends in October 2017.
