Concept for Training of Trainers in Iraq

In Iraq, there is high potential for skilled employees and a high demand of the local companies for well-trained personnel. Iraq is a potentially rich country and especially in the fields of oil and gas industry, there is a high demand for technically qualified specialists.

Since 2016, bbw international conducts a partnership for occupational training with different ministries at the autonomous region of Kurdistan and Northern Iraq. The German Bureau for Economy in Erbil is part of it as well. With the help of the trainings, the results of the partnership shall be expanded to the whole country of Iraq. Within the frame of the project, bbw is successfully cooperating with the Ministry of Planning (MoP) and the Ministry for Labor and Social Affairs of the local Kurdish government in Northern Iraq. The main aims are the development of efficient training systems for vocational education in different professions and the training of trainers. 

Pass competencies for vocational qualification at worksite and make it applicable

There is no overall realiable training for trainers in in the country. Also, Iraq is a profitable market for German companies. Not only in the oil and gas sector lots of projects have been give to German companies but also projects concerning the development of infrastructure, power plants and production facilites. A big obstacle for the companies is the lack of qualified employees though.

The aim is the training of trainers in four locations

The project aims at training trainers in four locations in Iraq (Erbil, Suleimania, Basra and Bagdad). At least 15 trainers, which were chosen carefully concerning their expertise and professional knowhow, shall be trained for being Master Trainers. Subsequently, the qualified trainers will hold one course at each location with at least 15 participants (60 in total) from different institutions and with players of vocational education.
