Changeover to digital - in the vocational training partnership with South Africa

In september a 2-week training in blended learning format in pneumatics and hydraulics took place. In virtual classroom sessions, self-study units and practical training units teachers from 3 vocational schools learned the basics of pneumatics and hydraulics in an practice-oriented way.

South Africa was hit particularly hard by the Corona crisis. For months the country was on a lockdown. The entry of travelers from abroad was prohibited which also effected our trainers. In order to ensure that the planned training courses could still take place, bbw developed a training course in blended learning format in cooperation with the training center in Zwickau. In a digital classroom, the participants met our trainer from Germany. A South African educational institution led the practical exercises on particular days, considering  a strict hygiene concept. In this way, it was ensured that the teachers could establish a direct link between theory and practice and apply what they had learned. 17 teachers participated in the training.

As part of the project, vocational training in mechatronics is being implemented  in  South African TVET colleges based on the German model.
