Organic Egypt: a project begins for the promotion of organic agriculture in Egypt

In January 2019 the big planning workshop for Organic Egypt took place in SEKEM, Egypt. Around 20 experts from the field of organic farming, including Egyptian and German partners, came together for an interactive workshop to review the project plan, create synergies and provide impetus for strengthening Egyptian organic farming.

The aim of the project is to increase the competitiveness of producers and growers of organic products in Egypt. To achieve this goal, Organic Egypt works closely with two local partner associations; the Egyptian Bio-Dynamic Association (EBDA) and the Fayoum Agro Organic and Development Association (FAODA). Both EBDA and FOUDA have a long history of working with organic farmers in Egypt.

In the planning workshops, the activities of the project partners were defined for the duration of the project (first phase 3 years). Since then, the implementation of these activities has been in progress. An example of a continuous activity is the further training of employees and consultants of the partner associations FAODA and EBDA. Monthly further training courses are offered in a wide variety of topics; both technical and soft skill training.
