Lebanon: bbw projects BINA and BEAT show excellent results despite crisis

There is a deep economic and political crisis in Lebanon. Two thirds of the population now live below the poverty line. This makes the good results of the labour market provisions BINA and BEAT, arranged together with the local project partner LOST (Lebanese Organisation of Training and Studies) all the more important.

With BINA, 1,655 young people were tested for their skills and given counselling, 972 of them received vocational preparation training and 185 were placed in work. In the business start-up programme BEAT, 539 interested people were trained and 160 start-ups were supported. The independent evaluator Lydia Drissi was impressed, also by the high motivation of all those involved. She recommended a further project phase of 3 years to the financing ministry BMZ and the coordinating foundation sequa. Many thanks for the great work to the teams in Baalbeck/Lebanon and Hof/Bavaria!
